About The Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra
The Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra (NGSO) is an audition-free community orchestra based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Founded in 2016, the NGSO has grown from a small collective of musicians into a fully-fledged orchestra with a rather unique instrumentation that services the immediate Norwalk area, as well the surrounding communities.
The NGSO has three primary goals:
- Foster Musical Appreciation: Foster an appreciation for video game music as an important cultural art form
- Promote Musical Excellence: Promote and propel local musicians to improve their skills
- Encourage Meaningful Experience: Come together collectively and collaboratively engage in meaningful social interaction within the community
To that extent, the NGSO accepts local musicians of all ages and skill levels, audition-free. We provide opportunities to hone not just an individual’s musical skills, but interpersonal and leadership skills as well. At the end of the day, we like to consider the members of the orchestra as a family; we hold a number of non-music-based social events throughout the year.
NGSO by the Numbers:
30+ Musicians
Constantly increasing our roster, we are a group of over 30 musicians representing all musical families. All musicians own and provide their own instrument.
4-6 Concerts Per Year
Performances at a variety of locations throughout Connecticut including libraries, theaters, and community events.
3 Rehearsals Per Month
We typically rehearse as a full ensemble 3 times per month, excluding holidays.

Testimonials
Two of my friends and I were privileged to be in the audience (front row) of your concert at the Simsbury Public Library this past Sunday afternoon. Being involved with music almost all of my life and having two adult children playing in orchestras and teaching music, your performance was something so unusual and fabulous. I was only familiar with the Mario Brothers music since my two grandsons moved to CO shortly after that music came on the scene and that was the end of my gaming exposure. The instrumentation was fascinating, unusual, exciting and melodious. It was indeed a treat for a dreary Sunday afternoon.
I am nothing but proud and satisfied with my time spent with the NGSO. When I moved to Norwalk alone as a young adult, I searched for a community where I could both meet peers with the same interests and continue to pursue my passion for music and performance after my college graduation. The NGSO lets me do all those things in a way that is not only fun, but fruitful in bringing people together, celebrating an often unnoticed musical genre, and enables me to be an active member of my community. Seven years with the NGSO and hoping for many more!
